Slow tail
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008946
The trailing portion of a lightning discharge or other transient electrical event, characterized by a relatively slow decay in current or luminosity. This part of the discharge follows the initial, more rapid current peak. The slow tail contributes to the total energy dissipated by the lightning strike and can be a source of electromagnetic interference.
