Smoke horizon
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008961
A distinct layer of reduced visibility caused by the presence of smoke particles in the atmosphere, often appearing as a hazy band near the horizon. This phenomenon occurs when smoke from distant fires or industrial sources is transported and accumulates in a stable atmospheric layer. The smoke horizon can obscure distant landmarks and alter the perceived color of the sky.
