Soil moisture profile

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009016

The vertical distribution of water content within the soil column from the surface down to a certain depth. This profile reflects the balance between infiltration, evaporation, transpiration, and drainage, providing insight into water availability for plants and groundwater recharge. It is often measured at multiple depths using sensors like capacitance probes or tensiometers.
