Deacon wind profile parameter

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004874

An exponent used to describe the vertical profile of wind speed within the atmospheric surface layer, particularly over complex terrain or under varying stability conditions. This parameter characterizes the deviation from a logarithmic wind profile, providing insight into the roughness and stability of the boundary layer. It is derived from measurements of wind speed at multiple heights.
