Squall-line thunderstorm

A type of thunderstorm that is organized into a linear band, often associated with a cold front or other mesoscale boundary, producing a continuous or nearly continuous band of convective cells. These storms are characterized by a leading edge of strong winds and heavy precipitation, followed by a region of lighter rain. They can produce widespread damaging winds and flash flooding.
