Ribut

A localized, violent squall or thunderstorm that occurs in the vicinity of Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula. These events are characterized by sudden, intense winds and heavy rainfall, often developing over the sea and moving inland. Ributs are a type of convective storm, similar to a tropical squall line.
