Standard nonrefracting condition
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009194
An idealized atmospheric state where the refractive index of the air is assumed to be constant with height, meaning there is no bending of electromagnetic waves as they pass through the atmosphere. This condition simplifies calculations for radio wave propagation but does not accurately represent real-world atmospheric refraction. In reality, the refractive index typically decreases with altitude.
