Swash
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009463
The turbulent layer of water that rushes up the beach face after a wave breaks, carrying sediment both landward and seaward. This process is a key mechanism for sediment transport and beach morphology changes. The extent of swash run-up is influenced by wave height, period, and beach slope.
