  1. A measure of the average kinetic energy of the molecules within a substance, indicating its degree of hotness or coldness. In meteorology, it describes the thermal state of the atmosphere and is a fundamental variable in weather forecasting and climate studies. It is commonly measured in degrees Celsius, Fahrenheit, or Kelvin.

  2. (Abbrev. TEMP)- The temperature is a measure of the internal energy that a substance contains. This is the most measured quantity in the atmosphere.
