Dry-bulb temperature

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005172

The air temperature measured by a standard thermometer that is freely exposed to the atmosphere but shielded from direct solar radiation and moisture. This reading represents the actual kinetic energy of air molecules, unaffected by evaporative cooling. It is a fundamental atmospheric variable used in weather observations and thermodynamic calculations, often measured in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
