Dry ice

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005162

The solid form of carbon dioxide, which sublimes directly from solid to gas at standard atmospheric pressure and a temperature of -78.5 degrees Celsius (-109.3 degrees Fahrenheit). It is used in meteorology for cloud seeding experiments to induce precipitation or modify cloud structures. Its extreme cold can cause rapid cooling of supercooled water droplets.
