Dry-bulb thermometer

A standard thermometer that measures the ambient air temperature without being affected by the cooling effect of evaporation. It is typically a mercury-in-glass or alcohol-in-glass thermometer, or a thermistor. This measurement is a fundamental meteorological parameter and is used in conjunction with a wet-bulb thermometer to determine humidity.
