Maximum thermometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007146
A specialized thermometer designed to record the highest temperature reached since its last setting. It contains a constriction in the bore near the bulb, which prevents the mercury column from falling back when the temperature drops. The highest point of the mercury column indicates the maximum temperature, and it must be reset manually by shaking or using a magnet.
