Terminal fall velocity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009553

The constant speed that a particle, such as a raindrop, snowflake, or aerosol, attains when the drag force exerted by the fluid it is falling through equals the gravitational force. At this velocity, the net force on the particle is zero, and it no longer accelerates. This velocity depends on the particle's size, shape, density, and the fluid's properties.
