Thunderstorm cell

A single, distinct unit of convection within a thunderstorm, characterized by an updraft, a downdraft, and precipitation. Multiple cells can exist within a larger thunderstorm system, each progressing through its own life cycle of development, maturity, and dissipation. A typical cell lasts for about 20 to 30 minutes.
