True wind direction

The direction from which the wind is blowing relative to a fixed point on the Earth's surface, independent of any moving observer or vehicle. This is the actual atmospheric wind direction, often measured by stationary weather instruments. It contrasts with apparent wind, which is experienced by a moving object.
