Relative momentum
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008507
The momentum of an object or fluid parcel as observed from a moving or rotating frame of reference. It differs from absolute momentum, which is measured from a stationary, inertial frame. In atmospheric science, relative momentum is often considered in the context of the Earth's rotating coordinate system, influencing the apparent forces acting on air parcels.
