V-shaped isobars

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010074

Isobars on a weather map that bend into a V, marking a trough of low pressure that extends from a depression into higher pressure. The apex points away from the low center, nearly always toward the equator, and the wind turns clockwise across the trough line in the Northern Hemisphere. A cold front commonly lies along the trough line.
