Vertical differential chart

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009996

A meteorological chart that displays the difference in a particular atmospheric variable between two different pressure levels. These charts are useful for identifying areas of vertical instability, temperature advection, or thickness changes within a layer of the atmosphere. An example is a 1000-500 mb thickness chart.
