Thickness
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010812
The vertical distance between two isobaric surfaces in the atmosphere, often expressed in geopotential meters. This value is directly proportional to the mean temperature of the air column between the two pressure levels. Thickness charts are frequently used in forecasting to identify areas of warm and cold air advection.
