Water spreading
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010117
A land management and water conservation practice involving the diversion of intermittent streamflow or runoff onto relatively flat land. The goal is to slow the water's movement, allowing it to infiltrate the soil to increase soil moisture or recharge groundwater aquifers. This technique is used in arid and semi-arid regions to make productive use of runoff from intense rainfall events.
