West Spitzbergen Current

A warm, northward-flowing ocean current that transports Atlantic water into the Arctic Ocean, passing west of the Svalbard archipelago. This current is a branch of the Norwegian Atlantic Current and is a primary pathway for heat and salt into the Arctic. Its temperature and volume flux significantly influence Arctic sea ice extent and regional climate.
