Wind arrow

A graphical symbol used on weather maps and charts to indicate both the direction and speed of the wind. The shaft of the arrow points in the direction from which the wind is blowing, and barbs or flags attached to the shaft represent the wind speed. Each full barb typically denotes 10 knots, a half barb 5 knots, and a flag 50 knots.
