Wind vector
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010270
A mathematical quantity that describes both the speed and direction of wind at a specific point in the atmosphere. It is represented graphically by an arrow, where the length of the arrow is proportional to the wind speed and its orientation indicates the direction of motion. Wind vectors are decomposed into horizontal components (u, v) and a vertical component (w) for use in numerical weather prediction models.
