Vector product
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009960
A mathematical operation between two vectors that results in a new vector perpendicular to the plane containing the original two vectors. The magnitude of the resulting vector is equal to the product of the magnitudes of the two original vectors and the sine of the angle between them. This operation is used in atmospheric science to calculate quantities like torque or the Coriolis force.
