Scalar product
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008672
A mathematical operation between two vectors that results in a scalar quantity, also known as the dot product. It is calculated by multiplying the magnitudes of the two vectors and the cosine of the angle between them. In atmospheric science, it is used to determine the component of one vector in the direction of another, such as calculating work done by a force.
