Wind-direction shaft

The vertical rod or axle upon which the rotating element of a wind vane is mounted. This shaft allows the wind vane to freely pivot and align itself with the wind's direction. It is typically connected to a mechanism that translates the rotational movement into an electrical signal for remote display or data logging.
