Propeller-vane anemometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008183
An instrument that measures both wind speed and direction using a single sensor assembly. A propeller, mounted on the front, rotates at a rate proportional to the wind speed, while a vane at the rear orients the entire unit to face directly into the wind. The instrument's orientation provides the wind direction, and the propeller's rotation rate, converted to an electrical signal, gives the wind speed.
