Cup anemometer

An instrument designed to measure wind speed, consisting of three or four hemispherical or conical cups mounted on horizontal arms that rotate around a vertical axis. The rate of rotation is proportional to the wind speed, which is then converted into a digital or analog readout. This device is a common component of meteorological stations worldwide.
