Z''-''R'' relation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010855

An empirical relationship between radar reflectivity (Z) and rainfall rate (R), used to estimate precipitation intensity from weather radar observations. This power-law equation, often expressed as Z = aR^b, varies depending on the type of precipitation, such as stratiform rain, convective rain, or snow. The coefficients 'a' and 'b' are determined through local calibration or by assuming standard values.
