Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000443
A multistrand wireline, with wire strands braided or stranded around a core, used as a heavy duty cable for deploying large tool strings and for fishing, where large impact forces are needed to free stuck equipment. Cable sizes run from about 7/32 to 5/16 inch, using the same equipment as electric line work. Pipe rams closed on braided cable cannot isolate well pressure.
