Carried working interest

A working interest in an oil and gas property where one party, the carrying party, agrees to pay all or a disproportionate share of the costs attributable to another party's interest, the carried party, for a specified period or until a certain event occurs. The carried party does not bear current expenses but typically repays the carrying party out of future production. This arrangement is common in joint ventures to incentivize participation.
