Emergent behavior
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001292
Complex, system-level patterns or capabilities that arise from the interactions of many simple components within an artificial intelligence model, but were not explicitly programmed. In oil and gas applications, this can manifest as a model's unforeseen ability to correlate subtle seismic attributes with reservoir productivity or predict equipment failures from novel sensor data combinations. This behavior contrasts with deterministic outcomes that are directly coded into traditional software algorithms.
