Header box
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001799
A distribution chamber at the inlet of a shale shaker that receives drilling fluid returning from the wellbore. It is designed to slow the fluid's velocity and spread the flow evenly across the width of the shaker screens. Also known as a weir box or feeder, it reduces turbulence and prevents channeling of the mud, which would otherwise cause localized screen wear and inefficient solids removal.
