Interpretation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002017
The process of analyzing geophysical and geological data to create a model of the subsurface structure and stratigraphy. Geoscientists identify and map features such as faults, folds, salt domes, and sedimentary layers from seismic reflection profiles, well logs, and other datasets. This model forms the basis for assessing hydrocarbon potential, defining drilling targets, and estimating reservoir volumes.
