Interpolation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002016
The process of estimating unknown values of a reservoir property at unmeasured locations based on known values at surrounding points. This technique uses mathematical algorithms to create a continuous surface or volume from discrete data, such as well log measurements or core analyses. Common interpolation methods include inverse distance weighting and kriging.
