Minerals Management Service

The former United States Department of the Interior agency that leased offshore tracts, collected royalties and regulated drilling and production on the Outer Continental Shelf. After the 2010 Deepwater Horizon blowout, a secretarial order of May 2010 split its duties among the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement and the Office of Natural Resources Revenue. The service was formally dissolved on 1 October 2011.
