The abbreviation for the Minerals Management Service, the United States Department of the Interior agency that managed offshore oil, gas and mineral leasing and regulation on the Outer Continental Shelf. It was created on 19 January 1982, its duties were split after the Deepwater Horizon blowout among three successor bodies, and it was formally dissolved on 1 October 2011.
