Phantom
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002768
A synthetic seismic horizon created by shifting a real seismic horizon up or down by a constant time or depth interval. This technique generates a parallel surface that follows the structural trends of the original horizon. Phantoms are often used to flatten seismic data for stratigraphic analysis or to model geological layers that lack a distinct seismic reflection.
