NODAL analysis
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002549
A systems analysis method used to evaluate the performance of a complete oil or gas production system from the reservoir to the surface. It models the well by calculating pressure drops across components like the formation, completion, tubing, and flowlines to predict flow rates. The analysis identifies the operating point where the inflow performance relationship (IPR) curve from the reservoir intersects the vertical lift performance (VLP) curve of the wellbore, indicating the expected production rate and bottomhole pressure.
