Pour point
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002886
The lowest temperature at which a liquid, such as a crude oil or drilling fluid, will flow when cooled under specific test conditions. Below this temperature, the fluid congeals or solidifies due to the formation of wax crystals or other solid components. The pour point is a key property for selecting drilling fluids and crude oil transportation methods, especially in cold environments, and is measured by ASTM D97.
