Productivity index (PI)

A measure of a well's ability to produce fluids, defined as the ratio of the production rate to the pressure drawdown at the sand face. A higher productivity index indicates a more efficient well. It is typically expressed in barrels per day per pound per square inch (bbl/day/psi) or cubic meters per day per kilopascal (m3/day/kPa).
