Pull out of the hole
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002990
To withdraw the drill string from the wellbore to perform an operation such as changing the bit, running casing, or conducting logging runs. This procedure, also called tripping out, involves systematically unscrewing and racking stands of drill pipe in the derrick. The process is reversed when running back into the hole, and the total time for a round trip is a major factor in non-drilling operational time.
