Surge tank

A vessel installed in a fluid flow system to absorb sudden changes in pressure or flow rate, thereby stabilizing the system. It temporarily stores excess liquid or gas to prevent hydraulic shock or maintain a steady supply to downstream equipment. These tanks are commonly found in pipeline systems, pump stations, and processing plants to mitigate operational disturbances.
