Surrounding bed

The rock formation immediately adjacent to the bed being investigated by a logging tool. The properties of the surrounding bed can influence the measurements recorded by certain logging tools, especially those with a deep depth of investigation. This effect, known as shoulder bed effect, requires correction for accurate interpretation of reservoir properties.
