Shoulder bed
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003386
A formation layer adjacent to the bed of interest that can influence the measurement of a logging tool, particularly resistivity tools. The resistivity of the shoulder bed can cause 'shoulder bed effect,' where the log reading in the target bed is pulled towards the shoulder bed's resistivity. This effect is more pronounced in thin beds.
