Tail buoy

A floating marker deployed at the end of a marine seismic streamer cable to indicate its position and depth. It contains navigation equipment, such as a global positioning system (GPS) receiver, and acoustic transponders for precise location tracking. The buoy's data is transmitted to the seismic vessel to maintain proper streamer geometry during data acquisition.
