Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004238
A remote-controlled device attached at intervals along a marine seismic streamer to maintain its position at a specified depth. Each unit has adjustable wings, or hydrofoils, that create hydrodynamic forces to make the streamer dive or rise in the water. The devices receive commands from a central controller on the vessel, which adjusts them to keep the streamer cable at a constant, programmed depth.
