Streamer feathering
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003645
The lateral deviation of a marine seismic streamer from its intended straight-line path due to cross-currents or other hydrodynamic forces. This deviation causes the hydrophones to be offset from their planned positions, affecting the accuracy of the recorded seismic data. Feathering is measured by compasses and depth sensors along the streamer and corrected during data processing.
