Full-azimuth towed-streamer acquisition

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001594

A marine acquisition method in which a vessel towing streamers sails a series of overlapping circular or spiral paths, so that each subsurface point is recorded with source-to-receiver azimuths covering the full 360 degrees. Compared with straight-line sailing it improves illumination beneath complex overburden such as salt. Coil shooting is the usual name for this approach.
